Otaku Group

  • Otakus (fans of Manga & Anime) meet to discuss their favorite manga, anime, video games, and Japanese culture.
  • Members plan & implement activities to celebrate being an Otaku that also help to build a bigger community of fans.
  • Group meets the 1st Monday of the the month during Cougar Time.

Books Group

  • Members include students, staff, and parents who love to read and discuss books.
  • Each month participants read one book selected by the group, and meet the following month to discuss the book.
  • Book Group is a great place to meet new people, read books that they may not normally choose, and practice sharing opinions & listening to others respectfully.
  • Group meets the 2nd Monday of the month during Cougar Time.

Cougars Read

  • To encourage reading and expand students’ reading experiences, the KaMS library hosts a monthly reading challenge. Students who read books related to the monthly theme are entered to win a $15 gift card.
  • The more books they read, the better chance they have of winning.
  • Those who read 50 or more books that meet the Cougars Read theme are entered to win a Kindle.

Battle of the Books

  • Students form teams of 4-6 members to read the 12 selected books.
  • Team members read these books outside of school and become experts! We have monthly practices which culminate in a competition in the spring to crown Kamiakin’s winning team.
  • The winning team advances to compete against teams from each middle school in our district in hopes of becoming the district champs!

Dungeons & Dragons

  • The Dungeons & Dragons group, Armor Class, meets in Mr. Herrick’s room every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:50-3:30.
  • The focus is on imagination, teamwork, and adventures in the world of Dungeons & Dragons!
