Art at sea – Kamiakin Middle School student’s art showcased at maritime exhibit

Riddhima Das poetry KaMS

Riddhima Das, an eighth grader at Kamiakin Middle School, is no stranger to recognition for her artistic talents. Just this year she won the 2023-24 LWPTSA Reflections Contest in Literature and took third place at the 2023-24 WAPTA Reflections Contest for her poem "Because what else do we have?" However, it is her poetry that has her alongside some impressive company at The Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. Her two pieces “Liquid Ballet” and “Whispers of the Stream” are featured at the center’s exhibit titled “Marine Mosaic: An Exhibition Showcasing Diverse Artistic Connections to Water, Maritime Heritage, Boating, and Marine Life.” Riddhima is the only student from Lake Washington School District to be featured in the exhibit and her work is presented alongside several professional artists. You can see Riddhima’s poems at the Center for the Wooden Boat until October 27.
